VFD And Servo Drive

A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls the speed of an AC motor by adjusting the voltage and frequency it receives, while a Servo Drive provides precise control over position, velocity, and torque of a servo motor. VFDs are used for applications requiring speed control, like pumps and fans, while servo drives are used for applications needing precise motion control, like robotics and CNC machinery.

VFD (Variable Frequency Drive):
1.Purpose: Controls the speed of an AC motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to it.
2.Mechanism: A VFD converts a fixed frequency and voltage input into a variable frequency and voltage output, allowing for adjustable speed control.
3.Applications: Commonly used in applications where speed control is critical, such as pumps, fans, conveyor systems, and HVAC systems.
4.Control: VFDs primarily focus on speed control, with less emphasis on precise position control.
